Happy birthday, Super Adam!

A couple years ago Adam gave birth to Jeff the Robot, and his friend, a boy named Mo. So I drew a fanart and added the creation process on the covers of a moleskine sketchbook I gave to Super Adam Holmes for his birthday today!

I wrote with ink on the inside cover, hence it is a real deal contract with my impossible-to-copy-signature, that if within 6 months he fill up all of this little sketchbook pages, I'd get him a piece of cake. To think about it, that's totally too long of a given time, that made me too generous!! This sketchbook is small! I'm now regretting it but I already wrapped it up. Well, the size of the piece of cake wasn't stated... heheh.

Anyway, if you haven't seen Adam's film featuring Jeff the Robot, you definitely should check it out here! He finished this film while also being our loyal TA, in fact, he was our TA for 2 years in a row (total 6 quarters in a row). He really was a super TA and saved some of us who had problems throughout our filmmaking process. 

He's also a very good friend and an amazing artist/designer too! FYI, he wears those type of glasses that totally makes him look like Clark Kent. My classmates made a legit Super Adam TShirt this past summer, and for sure I own one too :)

Jojo

My professor told me watch Jojo in the Stars and he said I'd like it.

And I did. It's a very beautiful 12 minute film, written & directed by Marc Craste. Better watch it when all the lights are off and you're about to go to bed, like I did. It slipped my mind that I'd get a nightmare :)

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a breathtaking beautiful film, specifically the visual, also the narration. Roger Deakins the cinematographer shot this right after No Country for Old Men.

*Yes, I'm all about robberies and outlaws :p ... ... No.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid study

The late Conrad Hall was a real genius cinematographer. This film was so beautifully shot. Last time I did the study for Road to Perdition that was the last feature film he shot.

Thumbnails study I did for class and I picked Road to Perdition. I always wanted to study that movie and now finally I got the perfect excuse to get it done. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I suggest you to. The late Conrad Hall did an absolute beautiful cinematography work! with the great direction from Sam Mendes. It also has beautiful original score and sound design.

"Coffee Time" shotlist sheet

This past week was very different! My fellow animators and I who are taking Intro to Cinematography managed to finished all of our shoots! Making film in a different medium using Arri S 16mm cameras, and one was using a Bolex, Color and B&W film stock. It was FUN! also very nerve wrecking. 

My story took two different sets, and really, HUGE THANKS to awesome friends to be the amazing cast & crew, and the kindly lent manual light meter :) I finally settled on the shot list, with these thumbnails. Hopefully the negative & work print turns out alright as we come back to Fotokem tomorrow. *fingers crossed* then to the flatbed editor rooms.

I did these two posters, helping my screenwriters friends in our school. It's a very fun dark comedy feature script. The writer, Spencer Ballou, and JOey, who worked with the artists to set these posters up, already knew clearly what they wanted, so it was really fast working on these. And special thanks to Jackie Marion for her great tips on font. She's the professional graphic designer for real!
The screenwriter showcase was last night, where Spencer and other winners received their awards, and so did Aaron Sorkin, for a distinguished achievement in screenwriting. The special guest who introduced Mr. Sorkin was Armie Hammer, and the host was Mike Werb. He's a great host - very clever. Congrats to all the winners and award recipients. My friend and I had great time!
