Sketches from Second Half of Summer

Some sketches from my little moleskine for the second half of Summer bus commuting to work at Titmouse, and one page was during SIGGRAPH 2012 Student Volunteer Orientation Session. I didn't get to scan these until they're over two months old.

I met, or saw, very interesting people on the bus: one even gave out some expensive commodity for free.

The Assassination of Jesse James study

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a breathtaking beautiful film, specifically the visual, also the narration. Roger Deakins the cinematographer shot this right after No Country for Old Men.

*Yes, I'm all about robberies and outlaws :p ... ... No.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid study

The late Conrad Hall was a real genius cinematographer. This film was so beautifully shot. Last time I did the study for Road to Perdition that was the last feature film he shot.

A Gift from Yinglei Yang

The best roommate ever (or ex-roommate now since we've split), also a really good friend, and super nice girl, as well as awesomely talented and super smart classmate (she solved so many Rubiks cubes when she's on the phone with her parents!! and learned all VFX stuff in no time), Yinglei Yang, gave me a special gift. She made a paper sculpture for me and it's framed too!! I was speechless and couldn't open it at her presence as it was nicely wrapped and I knew my tears would roll down my cheeks.

There's so much love in this world! I never thought someone would ever make a paper sculpture just for me...
A couple months prior Yinglei gave this to me, I received an unexpected package right in front of my door from my beloved awesome sister and bestest friend, Arianni, and it was an action figure of me! I was completely speechless and ready to cry as I opened the package very carefully.

You can see more pictures of it on her blog post here.

Thank you so so much, Yinglei and Anni!!

One Drop Comic Project

My friend and great artist Mary J. Lai invited me to join her comic anthology, One Drop Comic project and it got funded!! Here's a panel from my comic contribution that I finished a few weeks ago.

I'm excited to see the book when it's done and out as I haven't seen anyone's comics yet, except my talented super awesome sister's. Thank you so much, Mary, for all your hard work and effort putting this all together!
